Trafford 11+ format (2026)
Trafford grammar schools use a CEM-style 11+ test, though individual schools may specify their own exact format - always check each school's admissions page directly.
The test covers verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning (maths) and non-verbal reasoning. Some schools include an English comprehension element.
Sat in September of Year 6. Registration opens in the spring/summer of Year 5 - dates vary by school.
Questions are multiple-choice with a mix of topic types within each paper, designed to reduce the effect of coaching (a hallmark of the CEM approach).
There is no single published qualifying score across the consortium; each school ranks candidates by score and offers places to the top scorers. Confirm the current process and dates with each school or Trafford Council.

What is the next prime number after 23?
Answer: 29. After 23: 24 = 8×3, 25 = 5×5, 26 = 2×13, 27 = 3×9, 28 = 4×7. None are prime. 29 has no factors other than 1 and 29, so it is prime.
